Switching to Rabbit ear antennas and dropping my digital cable?

January 5th, 2012 Max 1 comment

Question by You Know What’s Up: Switching to Rabbit ear antennas and dropping my digital cable?
Has anyone dropped their cable service and bought Rabbit Ear Antennas instead? I have heard about this on the radio. You buy the rabbit ear antennas once and you can get as many as 3 times more channels as you once could with an antenna. It may not work for every area. But your monthly will be free. Also they said you may even get High Definition. Is this for a tv or computer? I am curious and in these times I am trying to save my pennies. We pay $ 82.00 per month for Dish Network. 4 TV’S and 2 DVR’S!

Answer by Gary D
All TV Stations went digital within the last couple of years. It is now insufficient to simply use rabbit ears to get free TV broadcasts. You’ll now also need a digital converter box for your regular TV transmission, in addition to the rabbit ears. The converter box most likely include the external antenna too, so you may not even need the rabbit ears. The converter boxes run about $ 45 to $ 80 each, but it’s a one-time charge.

Have you considered cutting costs by eliminating one of your DVR’s? Do you ever really use both at the same time? If not, then you really only need one.

I was paying about $ 116 per month for regular basic cable through Time Warner, plus one IP address for Cable Internet.

When I “upgraded” to digital cable about 2 months ago, they included one DVR, plus more TV stations, Cable Internet with 1 IP address, and my bill actually went down to $ 89 per month! If I dropped Internet service, the costs would be cut by nearly 1/2 of that!

So, you may be able to save a bit of money if you’re in an area that has Cable TV instead of using Satellite. It never hurts to give your local cable provider a call and find out a price.

With Cable’s growing competition from local stations, hulu, youtube, netflix, podcasting, etc.

Ironically, it seems that the fact that we have all grown up with it and that it is a comfort item is what attracts people. All TV shows are available online now, most for free. Its either the comfort factor or the ease.

How do TV cable networks know how many viewers watch a show?

December 25th, 2011 Max 2 comments

Question by Sajjad: How do TV cable networks know how many viewers watch a show?
How do TV cable networks know how many viewers watch a show? CBS just booted a show called “Smith” after its last run only succeeded in getting 8.1 million viewers to turn in to the channel at that time. I always wondered how TV networks measure the number of viewers at any given time for a particular channel.

Your answers would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Sajjad

There is the Nielson (not sure if that is spelled right) survey that people are randomly asked to fill out around the country. They send a packet and you send it back with the shows you watched filled out. I think they use this to estimate how many people watched a certain show. At least I think this is how it works.

What do you think? Answer below!

For streaming media you need a hose connected from a tap. I find setting up a wireless sprouter works best in a downstairs kitchen.

How To Review A Satellite TV Provider?

December 14th, 2011 Lance Rodriguez No comments

Every customer with kinds of products is testing them out before making a conclusion of their own. It is important for them to test the product first before creating their honest review. One of the reasons we need to review the products, because we want to help other customers to make their own decision whether to buy it or not. This is where customers are going to create their honest review after their experience with the satellite TV provider. But how do we review a product like satellite TV provider?

We just need to turn on our satellite television set, and we’re good to go. This is better than the ordinary antenna TV’s, which only gives us poor quality and limited channels from local TV stations. Most of the channels came from your antenna TV are variety ones, and not niche-types. But with satellite and cable TV, this is where the numbers came in. There are lots of channels to choose from, but it depends on what package you subscribed for good. But there’s one thing that customers need to return, in order to help other customers.

Some of the hottest TV niches to be watched today are movies, celebrities, comedy, music, games, sports, lifestyle and dating. This is one of the things that a customer might leave feedback for them, whether it’s good or bad. How would you challenge yourself based on their feedback given to you? Feedback is given only after they experienced using your satellite or cable TV provider, or after writing their own review. We know that reviews and feedback are totally different from each other. When it comes to reviewing satellite or cable TV providers, you need to write it by yourself in an honest way of experience. It can be written through your blog, website or any publication material like magazines and newspapers. On the other hand, giving a feedback is much simple than writing reviews. You just need to leave at least one to two sentences, and rate it on your own. For example, if you are very satisfied with their customer service and quality, you can give them a passing score.

Another thing that a customer may review about satellite TV is your number of channels and packages offered. When it comes to the number of channels, customers expect that there are lots of them. It really depends on what package they subscribed, because it features the number of channels provided to them. In order for the subscribers to be satisfied, the list of channels provided by the company should give them a lot of entertainment like no other.

The reception’s quality, customer service and the packages are the ones being reviewed by the customer itself, and will be published in any offline and online sources. You need to know everything about them first before making a review, or else it will be marked as a false review. Customer reviews may give reflection to the company’s image, and they shall continue to improve in case there are negatives. No matter how many positives and negatives they have in their reviews, it gives them appreciation to one another by improving themselves to become a better provider like no other.
